Open House April 15, 2023
I hope everyone has marked April 15th on their calendar. Number 77 will be there with her Entourage. Come meet our newest Joey as well as snow and liberty. The farm opens at 10 AM and we will close for new visitors at 3 PM. Everything for the open house is free, the daffodils will be blooming, the grass will be turning green and the fossils will be practically jumping out of the creek, and I’m not talking about this old fossil. Come walk the trails, pack a picnic lunch, and enjoy everything Horsefeathers Farm has to offer. Enjoy nature, Bob

It’s Joey season here at Horsefeathers Farm. Over the next 6 to 8 weeks we will be pulling an additional four Joeys, Two Albinos and two brown, this is my favorite time of year. If you’ve never held a 2 1/2 pound wallaby Joey in your arms, you have not experienced one of life‘s great events. This would be a good time to schedule your visit to horsefeathers. In addition, April 15 will be our spring open house. Come join us between 10 and two to experience all things horsefeathers. This event is the kick off for our season. April 15 all things at horsefeathers are free. Imitations do apply. As always, enjoy nature, Bob
Last weekend during the national Audubon bird count I participated at Armco Park in Lebanon Ohio. I encountered this great horned owl during the count. This is only the third or fourth great horned owl I’ve photographed in a wold. she is sitting on eggs, so we kept everyone away from her. Don’t ask me where this nest is, I’ll never tell. Enjoy nature, Bob

It’s grounds hog day 2022. Our first joey just peaked out of moms pouch, and did not see her shadow. According to legend, that means we will have six more weeks of Hoppyness! WHOHOOO! joey season has arrived.
Yeaterday afternoon a visitor arrived at the lake. Meet the Redhead duck: Ayhya americana. It was a rare treat watching him feed, since it usually feeds at night. habitat destruction has greatly reduced its numbers. It breeds in Canada, and visit Ohio only in the coldest part of winter. this winter time visitor only arrives at horsefeathers, when Cowan Lake freezes completely over. It’s quite a treat being able to spend time with this wonderful bird. As always, enjoy nature, Bob
